Accident to the aircraft FW 44J Stieglitz registration D-EELK

On 4 August 2017 the aircraft FW 44J Stieglitz crashed in aerodrome after the take-off.

On 15 September 2017 the Safety Investigation Authority of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesstelle für Flugunfalluntersuchung) requested the assistance of the Investigator-In-Charge of Aircraft accident and Incident of the Republic of Lithuania in the investigation of the accident. The Safety Investigation Authority of the Federal Republic of Germany requested that Republic of Lithuania, as a state in which overhaul work of this aircraft where performed, will appoint the accredited representative.

Regulation (EU) No 996/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 October 2010 on the investigation and prevention of accidents and incidents in civil aviation provides that a member state's safety investigation authority can request help from the safety investigation authorities of other member states.

18 September 2017 the Republic of Lithuania has appointed the accredited representative.
