Accident to the experimental ultralight aircraft Bristell UL HD registration LY-LAS

On 12 July 2020 13:30 UTC the experimental ultralight aircraft Bristell UL HD registration LY-LAS was landed in Nida aerodrome. Due to wind gust the pilot did not manage the aircraft. The left wing tip touched the runway. Then the aircraft turned to the right and run off from runway. No injuries to the pilot and passenger. The right wing was damaged and the nose landing gear was broken.

In accordance with Annex I of Regulation (EU) No. 2018/1139, the aircraft is classified as experimental ultralight aircraft. In accordance with Article 5 of Regulation (EU) No. 996/2010, the safety investigations with these type of aircrafts are conducted only if safety conclusions are expected to be made. Therefore, the assessment of aircraft accident has been started, after which the decision to or not to conduct a safety investigation will be made.
