Winners of the Constitution Exam honoured at a formal ceremony at the Office of the President
Today, the patron of the Constitution Exam, President Gitanas Nausėda, and Minister of Justice Rita Tamašunienė awarded the participants who performed best in the Constitution Exam during a formal ceremony.
“Among the many competitions and contests, the Constitution Exam stands out for the exceptionally high civic motivation of its participants. It requires extremely broad and deep knowledge of the country’s fundamental law, which establishes the rules of our common life and binds us all – civil society, every resident and the authorities of Lithuania,” said the Head of the State in his speech. According to the President, each participant of the Constitution Exam demonstrates through their involvement that they sincerely care about how we all live and make decisions on public issues.
“I sincerely thank each participant of the Constitution Exam not only for being active and conscious citizens of our State, but also for becoming an inspiring example to others. You show how your personal contribution can nurture the values enshrined in the Constitution and foster citizenship in everyday actions,” said Ms Tamašunienė while congratulating the winners.
According to the Minister, everyone who is interested in the Constitution and takes part in legal education or civic activities strengthens the resilience of our society to various risks and threats. The more we understand our rights, responsibilities and the principles of operation of the State, the stronger we become as a community and as a state.
Rita Tamašunienė emphasised that almost one in six Lithuanian citizens has taken part in the exam over the nineteen years since its beginning – it is an impressive proof that legal awareness is becoming an increasingly important part of our society.
The participants competed in different categories in the challenge of legal knowledge, including the Lithuanian abroad with the best knowledge of the Constitution, the most active school, and the oldest participant.

The winners were awarded the prizes set up by the Ministry of Justice and a special prize established by the patron of the project, President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda.
The questions for the Constitution Exam were prepared and the knowledge of the participants was assessed by a competent commission: Gintaras Goda, Chairman of the Commission, President of the Constitutional Court; Vytautas Mizaras, Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Judge of the Constitutional Court; Andrius Kabišaitis, Chief Adviser to the President of the Republic, Head of the Legal Group; Haroldas Šinkūnas, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Vilnius University; Deimantas Karvelis, teacher-expert of history at Vilnius Simonas Daukantas Gymnasium; Lina Novikovienė, Acting Dean of the Law School, Mykolas Romeris University; Mindaugas Kukaitis, Chairman of the Lithuanian Bar Association; Tomas Berkmas, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Vytautas Magnus University.
The awards ceremony was graced by the performance of the choir Perpetuum Mobile of the Aleksandras Kačanauskas Music School of Kaunas, which won first place in the final round of this year's festival and competition of Lithuanian children and youth choirs “We Are the Children of Lithuania”.
Twenty-six thousand participants from Lithuania and abroad took part in the 19th Constitution Exam.
