Minister of Justice Ewelina Dobrowolska had a meeting with Sam Tanson, the Minister for Justice of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The meeting focused on the protection of minors during criminal proceedings and in penal institutions. Both countries have also placed LGBT rights high on their national agendas. In addition, the challenges of providing assistance to persons with addiction faced by both the Lithuanian and the Luxembourg penitentiary systems were discussed.

During the meeting, Ms Dobrowolska stressed that rising energy prices should not be used as a basis for questioning the system of international justice; besides, the Minister emphasized that support for Ukraine's pursuit of justice must be continuous.

"As members of the international community, Lithuania and Luxembourg agree that every possible effort must be taken to keep the issue of human rights high on the international agenda. At the times where the world is facing challenges in the context of economic processes, the media and international justice, we need to be united and ensure that the resilience of the most vulnerable groups is not weakened in this tense context," the Minister underlined at the meeting.

This meeting between the Ministers of Justice of Lithuania and Luxembourg is taking place during the visit of the delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel.
